Compassion for animals
ARK is a volunteer-based animal rescue organization in Kuşadası, Turkey. We are dedicated to improving the lives of street animals through medical care, food and shelter, and finding them loving homes. In just our many years of operation, we have provided critical care to hundreds of animals on the streets of Kuşadası. With your help, we can make even more of a difference for these animals in need.
Providing assistance
As required in Turkey, the council runs an animal shelter, which can perform some basic surgery and neutering prior to (in most cases) the animals returning to the street. However, funds are extremely limited. ARK members provide additional food and other resources while also offering their time within the shelter itself to make life more comfortable for every cat and dog inside. When extreme medical attention is needed, vets can be called upon for major surgery as well as minor interventions such as teeth issues which could otherwise cause an animal to starve or die. As a final measure, permanent foster carers are utilized if needing long-term treatment or post-operative care and ARK will generally cover any necessary expenses.
Animals Are Our Mission
Despite our ongoing efforts to make sure that every animal in need receives the care they deserve, we've been encountering immense financial struggles due to Covid-19. From limited restaurant openings and tourists visiting areas of advocacy work, decreased donations have put us under incredible strain - with not enough funds available for veterinary needs or food shortages now becoming a major concern. Our monthly report updates give an insight into these challenges faced by both animals & ourselves alike; yet it's never easy having to turn away support when most needed – so if you can spare anything at all during this difficult time then please help out those who are struggling day after day, just to survive.
